OT AutoPush Support is an extension that allows Open Transport TCP/IP applications to easily look at all TCP/IP traffic coming into, or going out of, your computer. This is extremely handy for software such as:
• Network software debugging tools
• Network traffic debugging tools
• Firewall software that work at the TCP or UDP level
• and so on
The extension provides no benefit by itself. You should only install it in conjunction with another piece of software that uses it. Such software will let you know of this requirement.
Detailed technical information on how this extension works is available as part of the Open Transport SDK, downloadable from the OT web page:

Packing List
The package you receive should contain the following components:
• Read Me for OT AutoPush Support — This document.
• OT AutoPush Support — The extension to install.
Installation
Before you install, you should first verify that you really need this extension. This extension does not fix bugs in Open Transport!!! Rather, it patches Open Transport in a very specific way to allow other software to easily see all TCP/IP traffic on your computer. You should not install this extension unless you have other software that requires it to be installed.
OT AutoPush Support requires:
• a PowerPC-based Mac OS computer
• Open Transport 1.1.1 or greater
To install the extension, simply drag it on to your System Folder. The Finder will route it automatically to the Extensions folder. You should then restart.
During restart, you should see the extensions icon appear at the bottom of the screen. If the extension fails to load, a red cross will appear through the icon, and when the computer finishes startup, you will get a message explaining why.
The extension has no other user interface.
Security Considerations
The purpose of this extension is to allow other software to get easy access to all TCP/IP data coming in to, or going out of, your computer. This application makes no attempt to ensure that only ‘authorised’ software uses its services. As always, you should be careful to install only trusted software on your computer.
Credits and Version History
Previous versions of this extension were distributed as Freeware, copyright Quinn “The Eskimo!”, with a very special licence agreement. This version is distributed under the general licence agreement covering the OT SDK. You should read the licence agreement associated with the SDK (either the Mac OS SDK licence agreement or the web site download licence agreement) for specific details on redistributing this extension.
Version 1.0b1 (Aug 1997) was distributed to a small number of beta testers.
Version 1.0b2 (Aug 1997) was distributed to a small number of beta testers. It contains a few bug fixes, plus minor changes to code and documentation.
Version 1.0 (Aug 1997) was distributed to the general public with Stairways Software’s StreamWatcher product (since renamed to OT Session Watcher). It contains a few minor changes; specifically the product was renamed from “OT TCP AutoPush Support” to “OT AutoPush Support” to allow future extensions for protocols other than TCP.
Version numbers 1.0.1 to 1.0.5 were assigned to a third party for limited private development.
Version 1.1d1 (Feb 1998) was the first release of the UDP support, seeded to a limited number of developers. It was also the first official Apple release of OT AutoPush Support. Finally, it also fixes a number of minor bugs.
Version 1.1 (May 1998) Documentation changes and general tidying up.
